Deacon Thomas J. Murphy, Jr. is a member of the clergy serving the linked parishes of St. Vincent de Paul Church and Blessed Sacrament Church in Syracuse, NY. He also extends his ministry of service beyond the parish walls as a hospital chaplain.

Ordained as a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Syracuse on July 20, 2020, Deacon Murphy was part of the largest diaconate class in the diocese's history. At his home parish of St. Vincent de Paul, he is an active presence, assisting at Mass and serving the liturgical needs of the community.

In addition to his parish duties, Deacon Murphy serves a vital role as a Chaplain at Upstate Medical University Hospital's Downtown Campus. In this capacity, he provides spiritual and pastoral care to patients, their families, and hospital staff, offering a comforting presence during times of illness and distress.
