Living Our Mission to Feed the Hungry
Our patron, St. Vincent de Paul, dedicated his life to serving Christ in the poor. Following his example and the command of Jesus—"I was hungry and you gave me food"—our parish is committed to fighting food insecurity in our city.
To make the greatest impact, we don't work alone. Our parish proudly partners with the Dr. William H. Weeks Community Center, a vital hub of hope and support in Syracuse. By supporting their established community pantry, we ensure our efforts are collaborative, effective, and reach the neighbors who need it most.
A Ministry of Dignity and Hope
This ministry is a powerful encounter with Christ for everyone involved.
- For Our Neighbors: For a family facing hardship, receiving groceries is a lifeline of relief and a powerful sign of God’s providence. It is an act that affirms their dignity and reminds them that they are supported by a caring community.
- For Our Parishioners: For those who donate food or volunteer time, this is a profound experience of faith in action. It is a direct and tangible way to live the Gospel, build a more just community, and become the hands and feet of Christ. In serving others, we find our own faith deepened.
An Invitation to Join Us in This Work
This vital ministry is powered by the generosity of our parishioners. Your support is a direct act of charity that brings comfort and relief to families right here in our neighborhood. We invite you to join us in this Corporal Work of Mercy.
Three Ways You Can Help
- Donate Food: Place non-perishable food items (canned goods, pasta, cereal, rice, etc.) in the collection baskets located at the church entrances at any time. Your consistent donations are the lifeblood of the pantry.
- Volunteer Your Time: Lend a hand by helping to sort and organize our parish donations. Opportunities may also be available to serve directly at the community center.
- Give Financially: Monetary gifts allow the pantry to purchase fresh produce, dairy, and other items that are most needed, maximizing the impact of every dollar.
