The Food Pantry: "I Was Hungry and You Gave Me Food"
Living Our Vincentian Mission
Our patron, St. Vincent de Paul, dedicated his life to serving Christ in the poor. Following his example and the command of Jesus in the Gospel—"I was hungry and you gave me food"—our parish is committed to fighting hunger in our community.
To make the greatest impact, we partner with the Dr. Weeks Community Center to support their community food pantry. Together, we provide essential nourishment, dignity, and a sign of God's love to our neighbors in need who live in the 13203 and 13208 zip codes.
An Invitation to Serve the Hungry
This vital ministry is powered by the generosity of our parishioners. Your support is a direct act of charity that brings comfort and relief to individuals and families right here in our neighborhood. We invite you to join us in this Corporal Work of Mercy.
Three Ways You Can Help
There are many ways to put your faith into action through this ministry:
- Donate Food: Place non-perishable food items (canned goods, pasta, cereal, etc.) in the collection baskets located at the church entrances at any time. Your consistent donations are the lifeblood of the pantry.
- Volunteer Your Time: Lend a hand at the pantry by helping to sort donations, stock shelves, and assist our guests. It's a powerful way to encounter Christ in those we serve.
- Give Financially: Monetary gifts allow the pantry to purchase fresh produce, dairy, and other items that are most needed, maximizing the impact of every dollar.
