Invitation: As a new academic year dawns with fresh notebooks and sharpened pencils, let's also equip our students with the most important thing of all: our prayers. The parishes of Blessed Sacrament and St. Vincent de Paul invite all students, from preschool to college, to participate in our annual Blessing of the Backpacks.
Description: This special blessing is a beautiful tradition that sends our young people off to their studies with a tangible reminder of their faith and the supportive embrace of their parish community. It’s a moment to ask for God’s grace upon them for the year ahead—praying for wisdom in their learning, kindness in their friendships, and safety throughout their days.
We encourage all our children and grandchildren to bring their school backpacks, book bags, or even briefcases to Mass with them. During the liturgy, we will have a special prayer and blessing for both the students and the bags that will carry their tools for learning this year.

- What: Blessing of the Backpacks for all students
- When: During all Masses on the weekends of August 30/31 and September 6/7, 2025.
- Where: Blessed Sacrament and St. Vincent de Paul Churches
- Who: All students (grade school, high school, college, graduate school) and their families.
